How to get your IT department to do something for you…

Dear Pimply Faced Youth,

Although I am sure that you have worked very hard on the image used to configure my laptop/pc, I am still dissatisfied with and would like to work towards a solution to this problem.

Here is a list of the problems my image has:

* The network neighborhood does not populate with computers on our domain when I open it. I used to use this everyday to browse to network shares on our servers, and my own test machines. Since it does not work, I must now remember the name and sharename of each shared folder I need to connect. This sucks because you don’t have a proper naming convention, and no one can remember what the hell you did. So I end up bugging you every 5 minutes for the name.
* Current security settings do not allow me to run the browser of choice on my laptop/pc. This is a huge problem, because IE is a piece of shit, riddled with holes that every script kiddy exploits the day after patch Tuesday. This gives me a whole month of insecure net usage, before Microsoft will release a patch. This causes more headaches for me, and for you.
* You have disabled all ActiveX controls. This is a horrible idea because this huge partner of ours, FooBat Labs, uses an ActiveX control on their PartnerNet to submit buglogs, etc. I can no longer perform function X because you fucked this up. This is going to snowball pretty soon, and The Grand High Poobah (my Boss) is going to talk to The Enlighened Most High Grand Poobah (your boss’s boss) and have your boss castrated, his toes cut off, and his left eye ripped out with a spoon.

Please let me know if there are simple workarounds for these issues that you just haven’t trained me on, and I will be most happy to stop buzzing incessantly in your ear, like a mosquito about to suck out your blood. Otherwise, fix these issues, and I’d be happy to tell you how to do it, since you are obviously really just a monkey with slacks and a tie on, who couldn’t tell a computer from a pile of poo.

An Update

So here we go…

Work: It’s been interesting for sure. My job title is now Guru of Left Atrial Pressure Device Testing, Manufacturing, Production, Clinical, and Balls. I’ve been dealing with a lot of clinical site problems. Its been annoying the hell out of me. It all comes down to how shitty of a program HotSync is. I hate it, it hates me, we are NOT a happy famry.

I’ve been playing a lot of WoW lately and I love it. My mom thinks I need to do something with my life. So does my sister and my uncle. They are all losers and can kiss my ass.

I need to make more money, but who doesn’t.

Two new tv shows of interest: Korgoth and Metalocalypse. I have a sick sense of humor and that is why I like those shows.

I hate my computer, its a piece of shit. Slow as fuck because I didnt build the image. I’m waiting for Master Logikal^ to tell me what to tell those bastard IT people.
